DR Andrew j. HAYDUKE
Starting in your late 30’s, signs of age first begin to appear in the upper half of your face. Even after a great nights sleep, it may be difficult to feel vibrant when you see saggy upper eyelid skin and bulging lower eyelid fat bags staring back at you in the mirror. Saggy upper eyelid skin and lower eyelid fat bags create a tired and aged appearance. For women, the excess upper eyelid skin may even cause problems with makeup application. Contrary to popular belief, a significant portion of modern facial rejuvenation surgery actually occurs in clients between 38 to 50 years of age. Eyelid surgery is frequently the first cosmetic procedure that people choose to get to combat the early effects of facial aging in Dr. Hayduke’s practice.
-If you have excess, hanging skin covering the natural fold of the upper eyelids
-If you have loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids touching your eyelashes
-If your upper or lower eyelids appear puffy, making you eyes look tired and aged
Upper eyelid cosmetic surgery can be performed under pure local anesthesia in Dr. Hayduke’s office or in the operating room under deeper anesthesia (patients can choose whichever they prefer). Dr. Hayduke excises your excess saggy upper eyelid skin using a carefully designed crescent-shaped excisional pattern. Removal of a small amount of bulging fat is also sometimes necessary for certain patients with bulging fat. The incision is strategically placed in the region of your existing upper eyelid crease and wrinkles. Cosmetic upper eyelid surgery creates a better defined (crisper) and younger look to your upper eyelids.
Lower eyelid cosmetic surgery usually requires intravenous sedation or deeper anesthesia (patients can choose whichever they prefer). If bulging fat bags are the problem, then Dr. Hayduke makes a tiny one centimeter hidden incision just inside your lower eyelid. The excess bulging fat is then gently removed using miniature jeweler’s type instruments. If excess lower eyelid external skin is also present, then an external “pinch excision” of skin is recommended. Lower eyelid wrinkles may be improved with chemical peeling agents or laser resurfacing of the lower eyelid skin.
